Martello Tower

Description

A small, round stone fort built in the 1820s as part of Bermuda’s coastal defenses. Martello towers were designed to be compact but heavily fortified, with thick walls and a cannon mounted on the roof for 360° coverage. This one sits near Ferry Reach and would have helped defend the eastern approaches to the island.

It’s not as large or interactive as Fort St. Catherine, but it’s one of the more unique structures on the island and worth a quick stop—especially if you’re already exploring St. George’s or nearby sites.
