John Smith's Bay

Description

John Smith’s Bay is one of the strongest all-round public beaches for first-timers: pink sand, a broad easy shoreline and enough nearby reef to make casual snorkeling worthwhile. The water is usually friendlier than the more exposed South Shore stretches, though it still can be choppy depending on the wind. Visitors often describe it as a more local-feeling alternative to Horseshoe.

It offers parking and restrooms, plus lifeguards and a lunch truck during the summertime. It is easy by bus or taxi and works well if you want one beach that balances beauty, swimming and practicality.
