Somerset Long Bay

Somerset Long Bay is an underrated West End choice with calm shallow water, a park-like setting and much more breathing room than the crowded headline beaches. It works especially well for families thanks to the playground, restrooms and picnic setup, and locals note that turtles are sometimes seen in the seagrass areas offshore. Snorkeling is more about wildlife spotting than coral spectacle, and water shoes are a smart idea because of hidden rocks or occasional debris.

It is reachable by bus or taxi and makes a good quieter alternative if you are staying in the west.
