Best Forts

Bermuda's forts are a direct result of its strategic position in the Atlantic. From the early 1600s through the 19th century, the island was heavily fortified by the British to protect shipping routes and, later, the Royal Naval Dockyard. Many of these forts were built in St. George's, the original capital, to defend against attacks from the sea, while others were added as military technology evolved. Today, they're some of the most interesting historic sites on the island!
